I’ve been listening to quite a bit of Jim O’Rourke in the lately and I’ve always been mesmerised by the album covers for Insignificance and Eureka. There is something so beautiful about the two paintings used, It’s an image that would normally be quite disturbing but instead these oddball situations seem desperately tragic.
I thought I’d actually do a little research and find out who created them and they’re by japanese artist Mimiyo Tomozawa. I couldn’t really find much information out about her. She seems to mainly be a cartoonist doing comics but none of them have ben translated into english which is a shame, if they’re even slightly as good as these record covers then we are missing out greatly.
